NEO-ASSYRIAN CHALCEDONY CYLINDER SEAL WITH A FOUR-WINGED GENIUS AND A HUMAN-HEADED WINGED LION.
Ca. 800 - 600 BC.
A chalcedony cylinder seal, drilled longitudinally and engraved with a four-winged genius fighting a human-headed winged lion, with an inscription in the exergue.
Size: 42mm x 20mm; Weight: 31g
Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; reportedly examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
