COLLECTION OF MESOPOTAMIAN STONE ANIMAL AMULETS AND A STAMP SEAL - ORIGINAL LAMBERT REPORT.
Ca. 3000 - 2500 BC.
A collection of two stone animal amulets and a stamp seal, including, from left: a dark stone amulet, pierced vertically, depicting a small springing animal, recumbent with head turned forwards; a cream marble amulet, not drilled, in the form of a recumbent dog of mastiff type with head alert, wearing a collar; and a whitish stone stamp seal, drilled vertically, the back presenting a recumbent bovine in deep relief, the face with three rows of three drill-holes.

Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
