PAIR OF CENTRAL ASIAN AND CYPRO-CANAANITE OR LEVANTINE CYLINDER SEALS.
Ca. 1500 - 500 BC.
A pair of cylinder seals, including, from left to right: a pale faience or composition seal, probably Central Asian, engraved with a camel rider and a second camel; and a light brown faience or composition seal, probably Cypro-Canaanite or Levantine, engraved with a symmetrical design of birds flanking a stylised tree or standard, with dots in the exergue.
Size: 28-35mm x 14-15mm; Weight: 15g
Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; reportedly examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
