MESOPOTAMIAN STONE CYLINDER SEAL WITH EROTIC SCENES. Ca. 2200 - 1800 BC. A stone cylinder seal, drilled longitudinally and engraved with two erotic scenes divided by stylised trees. In one, a nude male stands behind a nude female depicted in three-quarter view, with her right arm raised. In the other, a nude female leans back before a nude male facing her. Size: 36mm x 22mm; Weight: 28g Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; reportedly examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
