Description
EGYPTIAN STEATITE SCARAB WITH THE NAME OF AMUN-RA IN SILVER SWIVEL RING. New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A steatite scarab with a domed back marked by a single-line suture and pronotum separation, while V-shaped notches appear along the upper outer edges of the elytra. The flat base is engraved with an inscription with the name of the sun god Amun-Ra, positioned below a large lotus bud and above a basket, neb sign, meaning "lord". Set in a possibly later silver swivel ring with a plain hoop. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 25.3.192, 26.7.429.
