EGYPTIAN STEATITE COWROID WITH FLORAL COMPOSITION IN SILVER SWIVEL RING.
Middle Kingdom to New Kingdom, Ca. 2030 - 1069 BC. A blue-glazed steatite cowroid, a seal-amulet derived from the shape of the cowrie shell (used in Egypt from early times as both an ornament and a symbol of fertility) with blue glaze, set in a possibly later silver swivel ring with a plain hoop. The flat base is engraved with a floral composition including a tied lotus flower on a basket (neb sign), with a water ripple sign below.
