Description
EGYPTIAN GLAZED STEATITE FISH SCARABOID IN SILVER SWIVEL RING. New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A turquoise-glazed steatite Tilapia fish scaraboid with an incised eye, hatched fins, and a fanned tail. The flat underside is engraved with a hieroglyphic inscription consisting of an expression of good wishes and protection, including part of the royal title 'Lord of the Two Lands'. Set in a possibly later silver swivel ring with a plain hoop and wire binding at the junctions. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 26.7.125; P. E.
