EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SCARAB WITH THE NAME OF OSIRIS IN SILVER SWIVEL RING.
New Kingdom to the beginning of the Late Period, Ca. 1550 - 525 BC. A faience scarab with the domed back featuring a single line suture and pronotum separation. The legs are incised and naturalistic. The flat base is engraved with the name of the god Osiris, along with the signs for "God" and "protection". Set in a possibly later silver swivel ring with a plain hoop. Size: D:19.15mm / US: 9 1/4 / UK: S; Weight: 4.1g Provenance: From a private UK collection; London art market acquisition; earlier in an Oxford private collection dating to the 1990s.
