EGYPTIAN BLUE GLAZE STEATITE SCARAB IN SILVER SWIVEL RING. Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2030 - 1640 BC. A blue glaze steatite scarab with a domed back featuring smooth contours, with no suture or pronotum lines. On the flat base, enclosed within a decorative scroll border, are hieroglyphs that form a traditional formula of good wishes for a joyful and good life every day (Aw ib ankh nefer ra neb). Set in a possibly later silver swivel ring with a flat-section hoop and lateral wire coils. For similar see: The Metropolitan Museum of Art, Object Number: 22.1.311, 26.7.326.
