Description
EGYPTIAN STEATITE SCARAB WITH CARTOUCHE OF THUTMOSE III BETWEEN URAEI IN SILVER SWIVEL RING. New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A steatite scarab with a domed back, a single line marking the suture and pronotum, and v-marks at the upper outer edges of the elytra. The legs are incised and naturalistically rendered, with striated detail on the upper part. The flat base is engraved with the prenomen of Thutmose III, Men-kheper-ra, in a cartouche between two uraei. The whole is enclosed within a single incised line and set in a possibly later silver swivel ring with a plain hoop. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 104906.
