EARLY GREEK PERIOD GOLD LEAF PENDANT WITH BIRD. Ca. 1200 - 800 BC. A rectangular gold leaf pendant with rounded corners and a rolled suspension tube above. The surface is decorated in repousse with a bird in profile within a border of pellets. For similar see: W. Seipel, Efes Artemisionou, Cat. 93. Size: 26mm x 22mm; Weight: 1.4g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
