GREEK GOLD RIBBED PIN HEAD WITH GARNET. Ca. 800 - 600 BC. A gold pin head of globular shape, formed with vertical ribbing divided at the centre by a narrow collar, with a garnet at the apex. The cylindrical shaft is encircled by two moulded bands. Size: 27mm x 14mm; Weight: 3.3g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
