HELLENISTIC GOLD RING WITH CARNELIAN CABOCHON AND GRANULATION. Ca. 300 BC. A gold ring with a braided hoop and an oval bezel set with a carnelian cabochon. The setting is decorated with bands of twisted and beaded wire and clusters of applied granules. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1872,0604.147. Size: D:14.88mm / US: 3 3/4 / UK: H; Weight: 2.5g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
