PAIR OF PHOENICIAN GOLD APPLIQUES.
Ca. 800 - 300 BC.
A pair of gold appliques, including, from left to right: a rectangular thin sheet applique with rounded ends, decorated in repousse with a simplified standing figure framed by a border of punched dots; and a miniature applique in the form of the mask of Bes, with a bearded face, large eyes, feathered headdress, and small perforations for attachment.

Size: 12-29mm x 9-14mm; Weight: 0.72g
Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
