BYZANTINE OR MEROVINGIAN GOLD AND GARNET PENDANT WITH MONOGRAM.

A gold pendant with an elongated garnet cut en cabochon, engraved with a cruciform monogram with Greek letters at the ends of the arms. The stone is set in a plain high cell, with paired ribbed loops above and below.

Provenance: Private London collection; previously acquired on the French art market during the 1990s.
