PAIR OF MESOPOTAMIAN AND AN EARLY NEO-ASSYRIAN STONE CYLINDER SEALS.
Ca. 1500 - 800 BC.
A pair of stone cylinder seals, from left to right: a North Mesopotamian or Mitanni-style limestone seal engraved with gazelles and concentric circles; and an early Neo-Assyrian blue stone seal engraved with winged genii flanking a tree.
Size: 29-36mm x 11-14mm; Weight: 20g
Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; reportedly examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
