COLLECTION OF MESOPOTAMIAN SHELL AND STONE ANIMAL AMULETS, AND AN OLD BABYLONIAN CYLINDER SEAL - ORI. Ca. 3200 - 1 BC. A collection of amulets and a cylinder seal, including: five fish amulets, two of shell, one of lapis, one of quartz, and one of dark stone; four small shell amulets depicting birds, and two stone amulets of standing dogs; four very small shell amulets showing fish, and one showing a frog, all pierced; a white stone amulet of a sitting quadruped with big tail in the round; a brown stone cylinder seal with cream glaze, the design showing a worshipper being led to a seated goddess, with a crescent in the sky, fillers including a "vessel" and "ball-staff", and terminating with a standard with lion's head; a white stone amulet presenting a bird on the wing, pierced through the body; and a translucent stone amulet, pierced vertically, of a recumbent quadruped in the round, with head up.
