COLLECTION OF MESOPOTAMIAN STONE ANIMAL AMULETS, DUCK WEIGHTS, AND A STAMP SEAL - ORIGINAL LAMBERT R. Ca. 3000 - 400 BC. A collection of amulets, weights and a stamp seal, including: five sleeping duck weights in various stones, one glazed; a dark stone amulet depicting in the round a standing quadruped, probably a dog, pierced vertically through the body; a white stone amulet depicting a standing bovine, pierced through the back; a white stone stamp seal, a semi-ovoid drilled the short way, the design showing two quadrupeds one above the other, in drilled style; and a stone frog amulet, crouching ready to jump. Size: 18-37mm x 10-28mm; Weight: 40g Provenance: Private London collection of an Ancient Art dealer; formerly in a central London family collection, 1990s; examined by Wilfrid George Lambert in the late 1980s–early 1990s; ex UK art market, 1970s–early 1980s.
