COLLECTION OF ROMAN AND SASANIAN GOLD RINGS Ca. AD 200 - 400. A collection of three gold rings, including, from left to right: a ring with a broad hoop expanding to an oval bezel set with a dark cabochon, the mount bordered by a beaded rim; a ring with a slender circular-section hoop and an oval bezel engraved with a bull's head in profile; and a ring with a flat-section hoop and an oval bezel engraved with a rooster, the hoop decorated with transverse grooves at the shoulders. Size: D:15.39mm / US: 4 1/2-5 1/2 / UK: I 1/2-K 1/2; Weight: 9.3g Provenance: Private London collection; formerly in a UK ancient art collection (early 2000s); previously in the G.M. collection before 1996.
