COLLECTION OF ROMAN AND SASANIAN GOLD RINGS Ca. AD 300 - 500. A collection of three gold rings, including, from left to right: a ring with a thin hoop and a round bezel plate with radiating ribs, centred by an irregular dark red stone in a raised cell; a ring with a D-section hoop expanding to broad shoulders and a circular bezel set with a cabochon; and a ring with a D-section hoop and an oval bezel engraved with a quadruped in profile, the shoulders decorated with oblique grooves. Size: D:14.07-18.95mm / US: 2 7/8-9 / UK: F-R 1/2; Weight: 7.6g Provenance: Private London collection; formerly in a UK ancient art collection (early 2000s); previously in the G.M. collection before 1996.
