STUNNING ROMAN AGATE INTAGLIO OF EUTERPE PLAYING AULOS IN A NEOCLASSICAL GOLD RING Ca. 100 BC - 100 AD. An agate intaglio engraved with Euterpe standing in profile on a groundline and playing the aulos, the double flute. Her long drapery falls in layered folds, with the mantle billowing behind. A smaller figure stands beside her, holding a leafy branch in the right hand and raising a staff in the left.
