STUNNING VIKING SILVER-GILT BRONZE BOAR'S HEAD BROOCH Ca. AD 900 - 1100. A silver-gilt bronze box brooch shaped as a stylised boar's head with a wedge-shaped muzzle and projecting ears. The sides are engraved with interlaced serpents, their segmented bodies enclosed by geometric and foliate borders. A pin and catchplate are attached to the reverse. Size: 70mm x 50mm; Weight: 140g Provenance: Private collection of a Cambridgeshire gentleman; formerly with Allison Barker, 1990sÐ2007.
