WESTERN ASIATIC STONE SCARABOID WITH ANIMAL SCENE Ca. I Millennium BC. A stone scaraboid with a smooth convex upper side and flat underside engraved with a griffin advancing to the right on a groundline, its tail raised, right foreleg lifted and wings extending above the back. Symbols fill the surrounding field, all enclosed within a linear border. The scaraboid is perforated lengthwise for suspension. Size: 23mm x 19mm; Weight: 8g Provenance: Private UK collection; Ex private family collection of a North American gentleman, 1980-90Õs. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
