KINGDOM OF MACEDON SILVER TETRADRACHM OF PHILIP II IN A GOLD-PLATED STERLING SILVER COLOSSEUM-SHAPED PENDANT Ca. 300 - 100 BC. A silver tetradrachm of Philip II, the obverse with the laureate head of Zeus to the right. The reverse depicts a youth on horseback to the right, with _I_I__OY above, a torch and lambda below the horse, and a monogram in the field. The coin is mounted in a circular gold-plated sterling silver pendant by Apollo Brand, shaped as the Colosseum, with the surrounding frame divided into architectural tiers. A suspension loop above is decorated with concentric scrolls. Size: 45mm x 36mm; Weight: 30g Provenance: Private UK collection; London art market acquisition, pre-2000.
