Description
MATCHED PAIR OF HELLENISTIC GOLD AMPHORA-SHAPED EARRINGS Ca. 250 BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a disc above a ribbed neck flanked by wire handles terminating in volutes. The elongated conical body is covered with granulation and ends in a single granule. A curved hook extends from the reverse behind the disc. Size: 55-56mm x 15-16mm; Weight: 6.2g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
