ROMAN AGATE INTAGLIO OF SILENUS IN GOLD PENDANT Ca. AD 1 - 300 (or later). A banded agate intaglio engraved with the frontal head of Silenus, with deeply set eyes, swept-back hair and a long beard arranged in curling locks. It is mounted in a possibly later gold pendant edged with twisted wire and granulated clusters, with a broad suspension loop above. Size: 31mm x 23mm; Weight: 11g Provenance: Private UK collection; formerly H.G. collection; acquired from A. Kotllar, Paris, French art market, 1970Ð2006. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
