ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO OF A DOLPHIN IN GOLD RING Ca. AD 50 - 200 . A carnelian intaglio engraved with a dolphin in the oval field, its pointed snout turned forwards and the forked tail raised above the body. The fins are cut with short linear strokes. The gem is set in a possibly later gold ring with a plain oval bezel and a D-section hoop tapering towards the rear. For similar see: The Classical Art Research Centre, Record Number: 40002329.
