VIKING GOLD MEDALLION WITH FILIGREE AND ROPEWORK DECORATION Ca. 700 - 900 AD. A circular gold medallion with twisted wire outlining a central square filled with four spirals and applied circles and granules. Further circular wire motifs and granules decorate the surrounding field. An applied ropework border encloses the edge, with a broad suspension loop above. The reverse is plain.
