EGYPTIAN STEATITE SCARAB WITH HIEROGLYPHICS IN SILVER RING Middle Kingdom, Ca. 2055 - 1790 BC. A steatite scarab set in a possibly later silver ring, with the domed back marked by a single-line suture and pronotum separation. V-shaped notches appear along the upper outer edges of the elytra. The legs are incised and naturalistic. The flat base is engraved with apotropaic motifs, consisting of an owl, a djed pillar (?), the hes jar, and possibly the name of the goddess Isis.
