EGYPTIAN GLAZED STEATITE SCARAB WITH HIEROGLYPHICS IN SILVER RING New Kingdom to Late Period, Ca. 1550 - 332 BC. A glazed steatite scarab set in a possibly later silver ring, with a domed back featuring a single incised line between the pronotum and elytra and a single large black-painted suture line. The legs are incised and naturalistic. The base is decorated with two baskets joined by a double-spiral element. The whole is enclosed by a single incised line. Size: D:18.95mm / US: 9 / UK: R 1/2; Weight: 2.3g Provenance: From a private UK collection; London market acquisition; earlier part of a Swiss collection spanning the 1980sÐ2007.
