COLLECTION OF EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SCARABS New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A collection of four scarab amulets, modelled in glazed composition in shades of cream, blue, grey-white, and green. Each bears a carefully articulated dorsal carapace, with incised wing cases and schematic anatomical details, whilst the undersides are engraved with varied hieroglyphic and symbolic devices, one enclosed within a cartouche-like border. Originally intended as protective amulets and seals, they preserve much of their distinctive colour and detail. Condition commensurate with age, with surface wear, glaze loss, accretions, and minor edge chips. Size: 19-20mm x 13-15mm; Weight: 11g Provenance: Private UK collection; acquired in Germany; formerly with G. M., Sweden 1980s-1990s.
