EGYPTIAN FAIENCE SCARAB WITH HIEROGLYPHICS IN SILVER RING New Kingdom, Ca. 1550 - 1069 BC. A faience scarab set in a possibly later silver ring, with the domed back marked by a single-line suture and pronotum separation, while V-shaped notches appear along the upper outer edges of the elytra. The legs are incised and naturalistic, with striated details on the upper part. The flat base is engraved with apotropaic motifs, consisting of a scarab between two signs for good and beautiful (nfr). The whole is enclosed by a single incised line. Size: D:21.79mm / US: 12 1/2 / UK: Z; Weight: 8.8g Provenance: From a private UK collection; London market acquisition; earlier part of a Swiss collection spanning the 1980sÐ2007.
