MATCHED PAIR OF GREEK TWISTED GOLD EARRINGS WITH IBEX HEADS Ca. 500 BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with an open twisted hoop tapering to a pointed terminal. The opposite end is decorated with an ibex head with curved horns, joined to the hoop by a foliate collar. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1842,0728.125. Size: 16-16mm x 15-16mm; Weight: 2.4g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
