PAIR OF HELLENISTIC GOLD EARRINGS WITH EROS Ca. 250 - 150 BC. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a winged figure of Eros forming the front and a slender curved hoop extending from the feet to the back of the head. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1814,0704.1147. Size: 13-15mm x 10-12mm; Weight: 2g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
