MATCHED PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD EARRINGS WITH GLASS BEZELS AND DANGLES Ca. AD 1 - 300. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a circular rosette plaque centred by a green glass inset. Two slender pendants hang below from looped attachments and terminate in cylindrical green glass beads. A curved hook extends from the reverse of each plaque. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1872,0604.994. Size: 32-33mm x 13-13mm; Weight: 2.9g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
