LATE ROMAN GOLD RING WITH CARNELIAN INTAGLIO OF A LEGIONARY EAGLE'S HEAD Ca. AD 300 - 500. A gold ring with a slender hoop decorated with parallel ribbing along the exterior and granules flanking the oval bezel set with a carnelian intaglio in a raised frame. The intaglio is engraved with a legionary eagle's head in profile, with a long beak and feathers cut in linear strokes. For similar see: The Classical Art Research Centre, Record Number: 40002378.
