ROMAN CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WITH GRASSHOPPER IN SILVER RING Ca. AD 1 - 300. A carnelian intaglio engraved with a grasshopper in profile, with long antennae, folded legs and a segmented body. The intaglio is set in a possibly later silver ring with a flat-section hoop expanding to an oval bezel. Size: D:17.93mm / US: 7 3/4 / UK: P; Weight: 4.5g Provenance: Private London collection; previously in an Austrian private collection dating to the 1980sÐearly 1990s.
