MATCHED PAIR OF ROMAN GOLD EARRINGS WITH DANGLES Ca. AD 1 - 300. A matched pair of gold earrings, each with a slender hoop supporting a convex circular plaque bordered by granulation and centred by a single granule. A bulbous pendant hangs below from a loop, with a ribbed neck and a granule at the tip. For similar see: The British Museum, Museum number 1894,1101.295. Size: 28-28mm x 8-8mm; Weight: 2.9g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
