VIKING BRONZE PIN WITH RIBBED GOLD HEAD Ca. AD 700 - 1100. A bronze pin with a long tapering shaft. One end is fitted with a ribbed ovoid gold head between a looped terminal and a spherical collar. Size: 120mm x 11mm; Weight: 4.5g Provenance: Private London collection; previously part of a distinguished New York private collection, assembled between 1975 and 1995. The collection was authenticated in the early 1990s by Dr. Jack Ogden and Barbara Deppert Lippitz, leading specialists in ancient jewellery. A significant number of objects from this collection were also published in a professional catalogue.
