MESOPOTAMIAN RED STONE BIRD AMULET Ca. 3000 BC. A red stone amulet carved as a bird with a compact body, folded wing and long tapering tail. The head is raised with a pronounced beak and crest, and the wing is marked by a series of incised lines. It is perforated through the back for suspension. Size: 13mm x 37mm; Weight: 4.2g Provenance: Private UK collection; formerly H.G. collection; acquired from A. Kotllar, Paris, French art market, 1970Ð2006.
