Description
COLLECTION OF MESOPOTAMIAN STONE CYLINDER SEALS Ca. 2500 - 1800 BC. A collection of three cylinder seals in various banded stones. Two are engraved with figural and cultic scenes involving deities, worshippers, animals, and astral emblems, as illustrated by the accompanying modern clay impressions; the elongated central cylinder is unengraved. Each is longitudinally pierced, with surface wear and minor losses commensurate with age. Size: 24-33mm x 12-16mm; Weight: 29g Provenance: Private UK collection; formerly H.G. collection; acquired from A. Kotllar, Paris, French art market, 1970Ð2006.
