Description
GREEK GOLD AND RED GARNET CABOCHON APPLIQUÉ. Ca. 400 - 200 BC. A gold appliqué centred by a rosette of cabochon garnets. The stones are set in circular cells around a larger central cabochon framed by a filigree star shape. A narrow beaded fillet encircles the composition, within a broad outer border of radiating petals edged with twisted wire. Each petal ends in a small domed boss. Size: 51mm x 50mm; Weight: 16.4g Provenance: Private UK collection; From an old British collection formed in the 1990s. This item has been cleared against the Art Loss Register database and comes with a confirmation letter.
