Description
HENRI ROIDOT (1877–1960) Landscape with a Cow Drinking signed ‘H. Roidot’ (bottom right) oil on canvas 81 x 121 cm Painted circa 1925 Henri Roidot was a Belgian painter and watercolourist. His body of work consists mainly of landscapes, sometimes featuring animals, village scenes and floral still lifes. His landscapes, beautifully executed, are described as vigorous, sun-drenched and painted en plein air. The artist demonstrates a deep understanding of nature, coupled with tenacious and thoughtful observation. Around 1912, his paintings were briefly influenced by Fauvism.
