His work reflects a variety of influences ranging from Art Nouveau to Cubism, via Art Deco and Neoclassicism. Among his best-known works are the print series *Pushkin in Life*, the painting *A. Pushkin and N. Goncharova before the Mirror at the Imperial Ball* and *K.S. Stanislavsky at Work* (1947, Tretyakov Gallery), for which he was awarded the Stalin Prize.
