ALIM RIJINASHVILI (1948–2016) Theatre signed in Cyrillic ‘Alim R’, titled in Cyrillic, numbered and dated ‘teatr sukhaya igla 3/5 1983’ (bottom left) drypoint plate: 26 × 33 cm sheet: 57.6 × 56 cm Created in 1983. Alim Rijinachvili (1948–2016) was a Georgian artist of Moldovan origin. He settled in Georgia in 1951 and graduated from the Tbilisi Academy of Fine Arts in 1973. In 1990, he settled in Germany, where he developed an artistic practice that was exhibited internationally. His work has been featured in numerous solo and group exhibitions in Germany and Georgia, and is held in major public collections, notably at the Museum of Oriental Art in Moscow, the ‘Mars’ Avant-Garde Museum in Moscow, the Tbilisi Museum of Contemporary Art, the ‘Express-Avantgarde’ Gallery in Moscow, and the Ludwig Collection in Aachen.
