‘VLADIMIRSKAYA MOTHER OF GOD’ ICON WITH EMBROIDERED OKLAD Russia, second half of the 19th century Oklad: with embroidery, beads, glass beads, decorative stones wood, levkas, tempera 28 × 31 cm Condition: no restoration, well preserved Archaic painting style; the ochre colour palette is rather subdued. The painting technique is dry and schematic, developed within the framework of traditional iconographic conventions. The icon possesses its own distinctive aesthetic and expressiveness. The masterfully embroidered oklad lends the icon a special decorative value. At the buyer’s request, we would be happy to provide a general report on the condition of the lot described above.
