Abbé Jean BOULBAIN (Saint-Brieuc, 1911 - Rennes, 1973) for KERALUC in Quimper "Notre-Dame de Bon Secours Virgin and Child in glazed earthenware. Titled and signed on the back "Keraluc près Quimper" in the glaze. Circa 1940-1950. Height : 27,5 cm. Width: 16.5 cm. Depth: 7.5 cm. The Black Madonna of the Basilica of Guingamp, Itron Varia Gwir Zikour, is the subject of one of the most important pardons in the region. Crowned in 1857, this 14th-century statue is the first in Brittany (and the fourth in France) to receive the "insignia of the golden crown" from Rome. Who better to create its earthenware image than Abbé Boulbain, a former student of the Beaux-Arts and drawing teacher at Notre-Dame College in Guingamp? Similar models reproduced: - A.
