Description
OFFICER'S GILET, First Empire Hundred Days 1815. Of the type found in the cavalry, in scarlet woollen cloth, buttoned straight to the front by means of 12 general officer buttons of the model of the Hundred Days period, gilded brass plates mounted on bone (diameter 17.6 mm) embossed in relief with a shield devoid of attributes, with laurel wreath broaching a lictor's bundle topped by an empanached helmet, with in the background a bundle of flags and the spindle of Jupiter. Pants and collar, (Height: 8 cm,) and pockets edged with gold braided trimmings folded in a saddle. Back in unbleached canvas with back laces to fit the body. France, First Empire Hundred Days 1815 period. Condition : Fairly good condition, a few moth holes, lace on collar fitted later. Provenance: Manoir du Vally, Guingamp.
