Three parts in 1 vol. in-folio (37x28,5) of 319-VII pp. bound 1/2 basane, spine ribbed, cover preserved.

Work divided into 3 parts: Turkey of Europe - Ottoman Islands and Turkey of Asia including the Wilayat of Baghdad, Hidjaz, Yemen and Tripoli of Barbary.
The first part is devoted to European Turkey, including Greece, with 23 plates, the second to the Ottoman Islands, including Cyprus, with 9 plates, and the third to Asian Turkey, including Mecca and Lebanon, with 42 plates. A total of 74 plates by Pascal SEBAH, printed in black phototypesetting with ornate printed frames. A French photographer of Syrian origin, he worked in the Ottoman Empire in Constantinople, opening a studio in 1860, then another in Cairo in 1873. At the request of Hamdi Bey, he produced studies of types and costumes in Turkey. These are first-rate testimonies of everyday life.
The text is by the painter Osman HAMDI BEY (1842-1910), appointed Ottoman Commissioner to the exhibition, and Marie-Victor de LAUNAY, member of the Imperial Commission of the International Jury in 1867 and 1873.
RARE ORIGINAL EDITION of this typical work published under the patronage of the Ottoman Imperial Commission for the Vienna Universal Exhibition of 1873.
