Description
Skeleton clock, second half of the 19th century.
On a wooden base inlaid with foliage, an inverted "Y" type skeleton clock.
Made with a "baguete" movement in the centre or "ligne droite", it has an anchor escapement with 1/2 recoil.
It stands on a gold-varnished bronze plinth. The hour striking mechanism is offset to the left of the main movement. It strikes the hours and half-hours on a gong.
Note: This is probably the work of a 19th century clockmaking student. The work is meticulous and ingenious, for example the air wheel for the striking.
Condition : Set in used condition, with traces of old repairs. Needs overhauling and cleaning.
Height: 33 cm. Length: 27 cm. Depth: 13.5 cm.
